Double Chin Treatment Houston
Many men and women struggle with excess fat in the submental area, which is the spot where the chin and the neck meet, commonly referred to as a double chin. The fat in this area can be difficult to lose through diet and exercise, and is often hereditary, making it nearly impossible to reduce. There are, however, both surgical and non-surgical double chin treatment options that can help Houston residents reduce this unwanted fat, resulting in a smooth, more defined jawline.
Dr. Bob Basu is a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in double chin treatment. His years of training and highly skilled professional experience makes him one of the top plastic surgeons in the area, helping men and women throughout Texas look and feel confident in their own skin.

Why Consider Double Chin Treatment?
If the appearance of a double chin is negatively affecting your self-confidence or self-image, you may be a good candidate for double chin treatment. Typically, the ideal candidate for this treatment will:
- Have excess fat underneath the chin that is resistant to exercise
- Desire a leaner and more well-defined jawline
- Have a BMI of 40 or less
- Maintain a healthy lifestyle
Whether a double chin is genetic or simply exercise-resistant, there are a variety of treatment options that can help you achieve a smoother, leaner look. Dr. Basu will work closely with you to help you determine which treatment option might be best for you.
How Much Do Double Chin Treatments Cost in Houston?
The cost of double chin treatment in Houston varies depending on the surgeon, practice and the treatment method you choose. At Basu Aesthetics + Plastic Surgery, we offer frequent special promotions for double chin treatment, as well as a variety of plastic surgery financing options to make your procedure as affordable as possible.
Your Double Chin Treatment Options
There are both surgical and non-surgical double chin treatments available that can offer smooth, effective results. Dr. Bob Basu will discuss your concerns with you and explain the details for your double chin treatment options, as well as help you decide which one may be most beneficial for you.
Kybella®
Kybella is a non-surgical treatment option that works by injecting a form of deoxycholic acid, which is naturally present in the body, to help metabolize fat in the submental area. The deoxycholic acid then begins to break down and destroy the fat cells under the chin, which are naturally expelled from the body over time, resulting in a smooth, defined jawline.
Submental CoolSculpting®
CoolSculpting is another non-surgical method that can be used to treat the fat that causes a double chin. Through the use of a specially designed applicator for precision results, CoolSculpting freezes targeted fat cells, which die and are naturally flushed from the body over time.1
Submental Liposuction
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat under the chin using many of the same techniques that are used in liposuction for other areas of the body. In some cases, Dr. Basu may suggest combining submental liposuction with a neck lift or facelift for best results.

Your Double Chin Treatment Procedure
Depending on which method of double chin treatment you choose, the details of your procedure will vary. One treatment session of Kybella typically takes less than 20 minutes, although multiple sessions may be necessary to achieve the results you desire. A CoolSculpting treatment session may take an hour or less.
Submental liposuction can take as little as 45 minutes to complete, and will include a local anesthetic. A small incision will be made under the chin, allowing Dr. Basu to remove excess fat from the submental area, resulting in a smoother and more contoured appearance.
Your Recovery & Results
Because Kybella is a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure, it requires little downtime. Some swelling and redness may occur immediately following your treatment, but these symptoms should subside on their own over the next few days. Throughout the weeks following your procedure, as swelling and redness diminish, you should begin to see your final results taking shape.
After your CoolSculpting session, you can immediately resume your activities. Some slight swelling or bruising may occur, but should subside in several days. The results from your non-invasive, non-surgical CoolSculpting treatment will begin to take shape over the course of the following weeks, with final results noticeable 12 weeks after your procedure.
Following submental liposuction, most people can typically return to their normal daily activities with 5 to 7 days. Some bruising, swelling and redness may remain for 1 to 2 weeks following the procedure, but as these subside, your final results will reveal your contoured new look.
