Why Consider Male Liposuction?
There are several reasons men may consider getting liposuction, also known as liposculpture, including:
- To correct disproportionate body fat distribution
- To remove stubborn fat deposits
- To achieve a more physically fit appearance
- To improve self-image and confidence
- As part of male breast reduction to treat gynecomastia
If you are unhappy with any of your body contours due to persistent fat deposits that don’t respond to diet or exercise, you may be a good candidate for male liposuction to enhance muscle definition and streamline your body shape. Please note that to be considered as a candidate for liposuction surgery, you must have a BMI of 40 or less.
How Much Does Male Liposuction Cost in Houston?
Liposuction costs vary depending on the practice and surgeon. Your total costs will include facility fees, anesthesia-related charges, and your pre-op and post-op care.
At Basu Aesthetics + Plastic Surgery, we frequently have special promotions for liposuction. We also offer plastic surgery financing options to help make your liposuction procedure as affordable as possible.

Your Male Liposuction Options
Once you’ve decided to move forward with male liposuction, you’ll have a few options to consider. The primary option is where on the body you would like liposuction applied.
Men most commonly request liposculpture to help shed stubborn fat on the back, chest, and abdomen. Dr. Basu may employ a technique known as ab sculpting to bring definition to a hidden six-pack. Liposuction can also be used on the neck and around the face, including on a double chin. This technique can help you reveal a fit, youthful appearance, adding definition to your facial contours.
Liposuction can be performed virtually anywhere on the body, so if your area of concern is not listed here, you can still benefit from getting liposuction. It’s important to keep in mind that liposuction is not an alternative to weight loss, and the procedure should only be considered by those who are at or near their target weight.
Some men choose to combine liposuction with additional procedures. Men who have lost substantial weight often get liposuction as part of their post-weight loss body contouring plan. Men who are interested in a non-surgical alternative to liposuction may choose CoolSculpting® for subtler results without downtime.
Your Male Liposuction Surgery
During your initial consultation, Dr. Basu will discuss the details of your liposuction procedure and answer any questions you may have. Together, you can develop a plan for meeting your appearance goals.
The exact techniques Dr. Basu uses during liposculpture can vary depending on your needs. For smaller fat removal procedures, Dr. Basu usually uses a local anesthetic with sedation. The procedure may be as short as 45 minutes. If you have a more extensive liposuction procedure, your procedure could last 2 hours or more and will be performed with general anesthesia provided by a board-certified anesthesiologist.
To perform liposuction surgery, Dr. Basu makes one or more small incisions at and around the treatment area(s). Through these incisions, he inserts a thin tube called a cannula. In some cases, a tumescent solution may also be injected. This solution makes the fat cells easier to remove and also works as an anesthetic. When inserted, the cannula will be used to suction out excess fat cells. Dr. Basu takes care to sculpt aesthetically pleasing contours that complement the natural shape of your body. When finished, Dr. Basu closes the incisions with sutures and applies a dressing and surgical tape.
Your Liposuction Recovery & Results
You will need to limit your activity during the initial recovery period, but Dr. Basu will ask you to get up and walk around within 24 hours after surgery. Most men can return to work within a week after their procedure and resume exercise after 2 to 3 weeks. As you recover from your liposuction surgery, you will probably experience some swelling and discomfort, comparable to being sore after a hard workout. These symptoms can be managed with over-the-counter or prescription medication. You may need to wear a compression garment for several days or weeks after your surgery. This will help to minimize swelling and maintain the new contours of your body.
