Meet Dr. Shannon Kuruvilla

Dr. Shannon Kuruvilla, MD, is an aesthetic surgery fellowship trained plastic surgeon. She specializes in aesthetic surgery of the breast, body, and face. She also has expertise in minimally invasive surgical management of migraines. She is a proud Houston native and the eldest of six siblings, has always had a profound curiosity about what makes each person unique—their personality, ambitions, goals, and psychology. This understanding allows her to truly connect with patients on a comprehensive level, seeing them as individuals with distinct life stories and aspirations.
Dr. Kuruvilla graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame. She completed medical school at The University of Texas McGovern Medical School, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism in Medicine Honor Society. She completed her plastic surgery training at the prestigious University of Virginia Department of Plastic Surgery where she was selected to serve as the administrative Chief Resident. To hone her skills in aesthetic plastic surgery, she subsequently completed additional training with an aesthetic surgery fellowship at Basu Aesthetics + Plastic Surgery, one of the top ranked aesthetic plastic surgery practices in the nation.
Dr. Kuruvilla is especially passionate about Aesthetic Surgery for the psychological well-being it offers her patients, contributing to their confidence and sense of fulfillment. As a mother of two, she has a special connection with patients who seek body contouring, comprehensive mommy makeovers, and facial rejuvenation to regain comfort and confidence in their bodies. She is also proud to offer bioidentical hormone therapy to patients with symptomatic hormonal deficiencies. She is fascinated with the role that hormone therapy can play in cognitive and physiological well being as well as utilizing this modality to optimize her surgical patients from a comprehensive perspective. Her approach emphasizes understanding each patient’s story and goals, serving as both their advocate and partner in achieving these transformations safely.
Dr. Kuruvilla is thrilled to return home to Houston. Outside of her medical career, she enjoys running, hiking, pilates, and spending time with her husband who is a Neurologist, her two young sons, and their dog.
